For Your Safety: Consider the heat and humidity when making your RSVP decision. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Take precautions against the sun, such as sunscreen and a hat. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks and other biting insects. Poison ivy is common on many trails.
Meet at 3:15 pm for sign-in and stretching to begin walking promptly at 3:30 pm. Hosted by Princess Kate with Sweep Prince George.
—Prerequisite: Instructional clinic and the ability to walk 3 miles at a moderate pace.
—Distance: 3 miles. No turn-back or shorter option.
—Pace: Moderate. We will stop for: water, bio breaks as necessary, and a group picture.
—Terrain: Mostly dirt trails and some sand. Some minor hills on the Silver Spring and Try Island Trails.
Explore of trails that wind through different habitats including shaded pine, oak, and hickory woodlands; salt marsh; and freshwater ponds
—Limit 10 including host and sweep.
—Limit 1 walk per day and 3 RSVPs per week (Sunday to Saturday) to give others the chance to walk. If you are already holding 3 RSVPs for the week of this walk, please do not sign up. —Wear your CCNW ID badge.
— Sections of this walk can be muddy depending on previous rainfall and current tides. Please wear appropriate footwear.
—Restrooms and water are available when the Visitors Center is open (Tues-Sunday 9am to 4pm). Please note the visitor’s Center may be closed at the end of our scheduled walk. Bring tissue in a plastic bag for a bio break.
—Kindly update your RSVP at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time if your plans change. This allows the Host to plan and accommodate other walkers.
This walk is approved by the MA Audubon.
Fee: Members of the MA Audubon walk free. If you are not a member: adults – $8, over 65 years of age – $5.
Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. Check this FB event for last-minute notifications before heading out.
